The professionally successful fund manager Sandra surprises her fiancé Gregor in a compromising situation with a stormy nurse and subsequently dumps the doctor. When she urgently needs a male companion for a business dinner with conservative foreign investors and turns to a gigolo agency, Gregor slips into the role of the hired man in order to convince his fiancée of his innocence in this ticklish situation.

"Bad luck in the game, luck in love": Astrid Seibel knows the saying, of course - but until now she did not know that the two seem to be linked. The mother of two children, who has just been left by her unfaithful husband, actually types six correct numbers in the lottery, but the receipt for the lottery ticket disappears. The lucky finder is her new chance acquaintance Felix, who at first has no idea whose winnings he is holding in his hands. When he finds out, it is already too late: Astrid already knows that he has kept the lottery win from her.

Eberwein, Renate and Otto run a bar high above the Rhine, overlooking the romantic Lorelei. But no-one wants to climb high above the Rhine in these post-war days, and things look bleak for the future. However out of the blue Renate receives a letter to say that she has inherited an inn in Florence, and it seems their troiubles are over. They set off in their old car, and have to get towed most of the way, by a steam roller, a tractor, the carabinieri, and finally by a friendly priest. When they get to their inheritance, they find it is in worse shape than the bar they left behind. Renate goes round the banks to try to get a loan to do the place up, but without success. It looks like a case of out of the frying pan ... but there are two glimmers of light on the horizon; the first is that there is a large secret cavern behind the inn's cellar, containing unimagined possibilities; and the second is that the friendly priest has some money to lend them.

The upkeep of the animals has caused the family fortune to dwindle dangerously. Dylan has to get a loan as quickly as possible to prevent eviction.

When she travels there to find out more about her past, both the old lord of the castle and his son Andreas and his fiancée Vera are delighted by her interest.
